is the sport of long distance unsupported, time limited bicycling done in any conditions and on the open roads shared with vehicular traffic. Rides can be done entirely solo or as part of a group. Though unsupported, cue sheets for the route will include time check stops that typically are located at stores where food and drinks can be purchased as your proof of passage.
Distances begin at 100 km and go up to 600 km and even up to 1200 km for a few events.
2 types of rides exist: brevets which are date specific club rides in the spring that anyone can ride, and "permanents" which any RUSA member can ask to ride any time.
Tidewater Randonneurs, LLC organizes the brevet series and serves as a contact for local permanents. For more about this bicycle club see the "more" page
